Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
I think my issue is the south western side tennis and netball courts that are so unkept ( that could have changed in not sure) and the northern side where it’s a dust bowl and horses are roaming about. Activating these areas would be a big help. Theres just so much space, so much that can be done. ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
South Australia embarrassed nationwide as lights go out at Adelaide Oval “Venue management are working to determine the cause of the issue with the lights tonight. We will update when they provide further information,” it said. South Australian Labor MP Tom Koutsantonis denied the outage was connec...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Been looking but very hard to find, I'm sure somebody on here can enlighten me. 1. What is the current curtailment rate/percentage on our generation? AEMO and Open Electricity don't seem to note it. ... The NemLog website does report an estimate of curtailment. The Generation link at the top of eac...

Re: PRO: Marion, Cross & Morphett Roads LCR | $400m
Works are commencing this Sunday 17/11 on the Morphett Rd level crossing removal, running to "late December", they're saying impacts on everything from Anzac to Bray so I expect they'll be using that whole length as switchable 1 lane each way while they work on the other. The bike path is...

Re: Railway Under the City (new plan)
After having to change it because the Market Arcade development progressed beyond the stage where it was compatible, I've finally completed a plan for a railway under the City (and to Edwardstown) designed to minimise construction costs and maximise utility: http://track11.com.au/RevisedAlignment.h...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
If they extend it that far , does the frequency of the Trains to day Noarlunga get impacted negatively? Or would they do express past Noarlunga ? The present Seaford timetable has 4 trains per hour off-peak stopping all stations Woodlands Park - Seaford and 4 tph stopping Adelaide - Woodlands Park ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Surely the sensible thing would be to electrify to Port Dock with more of the current EMUs, and use these battery trains on the remaining non-electrified network? It wouldn't really make sense to just electrify he Port Dock line and leave the OH, Grange and peak Osborne as diesel services under the...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
BHP South Australia has done this and next year Olympic Dam mine will be powered exclusively by renewables and batteries. BHP Olympic Dam will not be powered exclusively by renewables. Yes you are right. I was under the impression that BHP had signed 2 agreements for renewable power.....the first o...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
I have not heard that the transmission lines between Port Augusta and Adelaide are full yet. Maybe the Electranet site will give some idea of future expansion plans. https://www.electranet.com.au/ See Section 4.4 of the recent 2024 Transmission Annual Planning Report ( https://www.electranet.com.au...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
There will still be industrial electricity consumers that are likely to need grid power and not generate sufficient solar and battery power for their operations. Small home and factory wind turbines seem not to be installed in Australia. Industrial users of electricity are better off doing deals wi...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Stop planing and start digging . Adelaide most be the most overplaned and underdeveloped City in Australia. Kinda funny given that (allegedly  ) DPTI was renamed DIT because nobody who worked there could ever figure out what the P stood for  In the Weatherill Government, John Rau, the At...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Actually the reason the trams run so slow is because they operate under heavy rail signalling guidelines. It's just copied and pasted over from the train network. Effectively the back end of government considers them to be trains on streets. They just sell it to the public as light rail and trams. ...

Re: SA Economy
I find the market process that sets the spot price quite bizarre, that the last bidder sets the price for everyone, and can bid a ridiculous price for a small contribution. I presume this market system developed to ensure there is never a shortage, but the possibility of huge wholesale price spikes...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Apparently the AFR and Newscorp publications are real news, but the Guardian is clickbait? Wouldn't it be better to just post the articles and let people decide? There's no real context to those articles, and they could provoke some healthy debate, but why bother if it leads to people throwing roun...
