I was against a second walker tower here but now that I have seen this beauty, I take it back! This will completely transform the look of our skyline and in the most prominent of positions. Its a mini and refreshed Rialto. https://i.ibb.co/tzCLz4s/5ff662f39b17680f7d7d2d35f2604070.jpg https://i.ibb.c...

Same with Westpac/BankSA but I don't think they will be in until next year.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 10:10 amI may have missed it, but Allianz are taking up some space within the building.

Haven’t the courts been crying out for ages about getting new space, and only months ago it seems (https://www.indaily.com.au/news/2023/11/30/chief-justice-canes-poor-court-facilities), surely this site would suit them well, even though we would all rather that blight on KW st got properly redevelop...

Thanks for the insight, great to hear things are moving along with this project. Of course I think everyone here would be keen to see more pictures 'from the process' as you say.

I could never say I like this, but I don’t hate that it adds height and interest to the skyline from afar.

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade
I didn't realise that the show court was getting a makeover as well until I drove past the site today. What looks like a mini version of the centre court roof has been erected and the court has been sunken to allow for more seating. I know there are a lot of detractors here but I honestly think MD i...

Yes, it looks quite good from a distance thanks to its height and slender form. Honestly it’s by no means good, but I also don’t hate it…could have been worse if it were untreated concrete ala Dwell.

Surely not allowed to butcher a heritage facade like that (I know it’s just paint but still)?

Honestly I don't hate it - at least the cladding looks decent and not ugly untreated concrete ala Bentham St or the Waymouth St student accom. It would have looked much better if the fins were continuous though, they look so tacked on.

So far looks like one of the many county jails you would find in downtowns USA. It is early days but I actually find it oddly insulting that such trash would be not only proposed but approved, on North Terrace no less.

Wow that Crowne Plaza pool looks like a nightmare! Aside from being small and cramped with this going up to the north it must get zero sun for 95% of the day.

Doesn't the old Marrakech Hotel sit between the toilets and the arcade? Looks like it could be disjointed from the rest of the development. I wonder if this is at the request of the developer or if council are just looking to offload the site (given they can't even use the current upper floors).
